About Us...What is the OFHA?

The Oak Forest Homeowners Association (OFHA, Inc.) is a 501(c)(4) corporation. We are volunteers who are dedicated to making Oak Forest the best place in Houston to live!

Membership in the OFHA is voluntary. Annual dues are $40 and are used for administrative and overhead costs, i.e., insurance, printing and mailing; beautification projects in the community; and costs associated with organizing and executing community events and activities.

OFHA, Inc. Membership helps neighbors stay informed while supporting some of the projects that make our neighborhood special. Proceeds from OFHA, Inc. membership dues, donations and its fundraisers go back to the community, making our neighborhood a better place to live.  Below are some other things the OFHA does:

  • Maintains neighborhood signage
  • Supports education activities for local schools and school children and assists other organizations with their neighborhood projects.
  • Provides information and a forum for discussing neighborhood land use issues
  • Monitors government plans or actions that may impact the neighborhood
  • Promotes deed restriction adherence by enforcing the deed restrictions in all 18 sections
  • Hosts "mix and mingle" activities, along with meetings featuring topics of interest to the community
  • Promotes our neighborhood as an attractive, unique place to live and visit by celebrating our neighborhood history and organizing and/or promoting activities that encourage community participation
  • Work on community park and beautification projects

The Oak Forest Neighborhood Patrol Program helps raise the level of awareness for safety in our neighborhood by providing supplemental private security to our local law enforcement. The supplemental private security is provided in marked cars for high visibility to help deter crime. These patrols are made possible by residents who subscribe to the program. Oak Forest Neighborhood Patrol Program subscriber fees are separately maintained and go directly to the cost of providing this program.  OFHA volunteers support the program by devoting many hours assisting in the administration of the program.

Despite Oak Forest being the third largest subdivision in Harris County, living in Oak Forest is a unique experience! Our many parks, schools, places of worship and ease of access to the rest of Houston make Oak Forest a great place to live! Where else can you walk to the park, the grocery store, your child’s school, your church, plus have access to Downtown or The Galleria in less than 10 minutes?
