I am new to the hood, but here are some of my favorite places so far:
Fiesta Tacos - Best breakfast
Doyles - Good Pizza, not the best in houston, but good
El Rey - legit
Petrol Station - best burger and beers in Houston. Hands down.

Looking forward to Plonk. Went by there last Saturday and had a glass of vino, but wanted some chow so I went to kroger and took some beef home for the grill. They should be adding food to the menu soon per Scott.

Anyother places I need to check out?

Some of our favorites:

Tecate - Ella just south of 610. Great chicken enchiladas, very inexpensive breakfast.

Tony's - just a bit farther south on Ella. Great atmosphere, good variety.

There's also a little burger shop in a strip center on N. Shepherd near Sears. I can't remember the name but it's a family run place.

I'll second El Rey. Great Cuban plate complete with plantains and black beans. And many people don't know about Petrol Station's coffee. Yum!

Lastly, a short drive away on 290 north of 34th there's just about anything you could imagine. I highly recommend Red Onion.

Good eats!

Matt

I forgot to mention Red Onion. That place is amazing. I need to go try the Red Onion - Seafood y Mas. I'm sure it's just as good, but just a little extra $$.

Lets keep Petrol Station to us.

Petrol does have a delicious burger.

I have seen/heard about some wonderful bbq places in Acres Homes. That is not too far from us! But don't know any names.

If you haven't had a burger from Christian's Totem on Washington, you haven't had Houston's best burger.

Two off the top of my head are Burn's (8307 De Priest -- close to Little York and Shepherd) and Pierson's (5110 TC Jester) . William's was great in the area before it burned down last year.

Fratelli's by far the best in my opinion. If you like Italian and I don't know anyone who doesn't.

I actually don't like Fratelli's at all, both the food & service have been sub-par each time I've gone. I far prefer Forno's on 290 @ 43rd.
