OFHA Beautification Committee Brings New Mural to Judiway Post Office

By Deena Alcorta, OFHA Director of Public Relations

There's a new splash of color in Oak Forest! The Oak Forest Homeowners Association (OFHA) Beautification Committee is excited to share its latest project, a vibrant mural at the Judiway Post Office celebrating the character and spirit of our neighborhood.

While the finished mural brings new life to a familiar space, getting here took patience and persistence. From building relationships with postal leadership to navigating changes in postmasters and unexpected delays, the committee remained committed to seeing this project through.

With funds raised through previous beautification efforts, the committee worked with local artist Sylvia Blanco, known for her vibrant, realistic artwork inspired by nature, culture, and her surroundings. Having completed other projects throughout Oak Forest, Blanco was a natural fit to help bring the committee's vision to life.

The goal was simple: create a mural that reflects the spirit and beauty of Oak Forest. From the greenery and natural surroundings to the beloved guinea hens and a familiar neighborhood squirrel featured in the design, every detail celebrates the unique character of our community.

What was once a blank, overlooked wall is now a colorful addition to a space residents and visitors pass by every day.

A special thank-you goes to Beautification Committee Co-Chairs Danielle Maudlin and Mary Jane Simon, whose dedication and persistence helped make this mural a reality.

Community support is essential to OFHA's beautification efforts. From neighborhood entry signage and landscaping improvements to public art projects, these initiatives help enhance Oak Forest. We encourage residents to consider donating to support future projects throughout the neighborhood.
